Transparency International Croatia (TIH) will implement, from September 9 to October 15, the “We have the right to know!” action, which will promote the new Law on Free Access to Information, the key legislation in the fight against corruption and further democratic development.

Croatian President Ivo Josipović supported the idea to create a Regional Fact-Finding Commission on the Victims of Wars in Former Yugoslavia RECOM.

The Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) demanded explanation from the Ministry of Interior of Croatia who, on whose orders and in accordance to what legislation launched criminal investigation of the activities of the Initiative.

On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the military campaign “Oluja” (Storm), conducted by Croatian armed forces in August 1995, the Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Croatia (YIHR) unveiled, on Autust 5, a commemorative plaque on the northern road out of Knin which was used by fleeing refugees from the town and its surroundings, some of them to never return to the area.

After the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia reduced the Branimir Glavaš’s sentence for crimes over Serb civilians before and during the War in Croatia from 10 to 8 years in prison, nongovernmental and civic associations came forward, expressing their dissatisfaction with Supreme Court’s ruling.

The Zagreb Volunteer Centre VCZ again organizes the annual campaign ‘What Can You do for Peace?’, to mark the International Day of Peace (September 21). Over the course of the campaign, September 11-22, VZC will organize international volunteer camp with particiaption of ten international volunteers.

Twenty-odd activists gathered today around noon at the corner of Gundulićeva and Varšavska streets in Zagreb to block the works on the disputed garage ramp project developed by the HOTO Group. The blockade lasted for about 20 minutes, before the police arrested them all. Tomislav Tomašević from Zelena Akcija was one of the 22 people arrested.
