The Zelena akcija environmental association (Green Action) came forward to oppose, on January 23, 2012, the announced dramatic 50% increase of prices of tickets to use Zagreb public transport company (ZET) vehicles, which it finds unacceptable and demanded from the Mayor, the Zagreb Holding Company and the City Assembly to prevent it.

The majority of Croatian citizens that turned up to vote in the referendum held last Sunday, January 22, 2012, voted for accession into the European Union. Of the total of 1,958,599 that cast their ballots, 66.27% voted for EU membership, 33.13% voted against, with just 0.6% invalid ballots.

Last Friday, January 13, 2012, the Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) submitted to the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic of Croatia (Drzavno odvjetnistvo Republike Hrvatske – DORH) six transcripts of statements given by family members of the persons apprehended, executed or gone missing from the territory of Vukovar in 1991.

For the eight year in a row, the Zagreb Anarchist Book Fair will gather publishing companies, groups, projects and individuals involved in the libertarian movement, March 31 – April 4, 2012, at the Nova Gallery (Teslina Str. 7) in Zagreb.

The main idea of the Fair is to present the anarchist/libertarian literature and activities to the general public, create a meeting point and open debate on issues of importance for the movement and the society in general.

Activists of about 30 associations the work in various areas of human rights protection greeted, earlier today, the Members of Parliament of the new Croatian Sabor and presented each of them with a list of 112 demands for improved status of human rights in Croatia. At the St. Mark Square in Zagreb, they performed a small happening and wrote the number 112 with their bodies.
