Civic Initiatives NGO, demanded yesterday, October 23, 2012, from the Government of Serbia and the Ministry of Finance to include provisions in the Draft-Law on Accounting that would simplify accounting for civil society organizations and equalize the status of the church and religious communities with the other non-profit legal entities.

The participants of the debate “Between Marginalisation, Discrimination and Poverty”, held last Saturday, October 13, at the REX Cultural Centre in Belgrade, concluded that Roma population in serbia is marginalized and discriminated in all segments of society and that the state doesn’t pay sufficient attention to that problem.

Serbian Ministry of Interior (MOI) decided yesterday, October 3, 2012, to ban the Pride walk and all other public gatherings in Belgrade, announced for Saturday, October 6. The President of Serbian Government and Minister of Interior Ivica Dačić told the media that the decision was based on security assessments that showed a high risk of serious disturpbances of public order and security of the citizens.

The Appellate Court in Belgrade annuled the sentence of the First Basic Court in Belgrade against Dragan Marković Palma, MP and president of United Serbia party and sent the case back to the Basic Court for retrial. Dragan Marković Palma was found guilty of grave discrimination of LGBT population. The Gay Straight Alliance won’t give up its case against Marković.
