Internet without Borders programme to be held during the Balkan Florence Express

October 2012 - 11:57 — Dejan GeorgievskiThe Balkan Florence Express film festival (November 26-29, 2012), organized by Oxfam Italia in partnership with the Fondazione Sistema Toscana and Festival dei Popoli, offers four days of screenings of the latest documentary and feature film production from Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Albania.

The first ever presentation of the Balkans’ film of this kind in Italy, the Balkan Florence Express will focus on the main theme of Stereotypes/Prejudices and how to analyze and destroy those stereotypes.
The selection of films was made in cooperation with the Association of Filmmakers in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Cinedays (Macedonia), Croatian State Archives (Croatia), Dokumentarni Kinoquadrant (Serbia), Free Zone Festival (Serbia), Prishtina Film Festival (Kosovo), Restart (Croatia), Sarajevo Film Festival (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Tirana International Film Festival (Albania).
All festival projections will be held at the Odeon Cinema in Florence, under the auspices of the 50 Days of International Cinema in Florence.
Under the auspices of the Balkan Florence Express, the OneWorld Platform for Southeast Europe will conduct a programme in citizens’s journalism that will involve members of Balkans diaspora Florence and students of media and communication from Florence.
The programme will include one workshop on social media and media activism in the political and social context of the Western Balkans, the use of social media and internet to create correct and interesting information and training on basics of online journalism.
The training will result in creation of a media pool that will produce daily news on the festival that will be published online – on the website of Balkan Florence Express and OneWorld SEE portal, and production of the “Balkan Florence Express Journal” festival bulletin.
