January 2012 - 9:36 — Dejan GeorgievskiToday’s lecture on REACH, EU regulation on registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals, Green Action (Zelena akcija) environmental association starts its January series of lectures under the auspices of the “Health and Environmental Impact of Croatian Accession to EU”. The lecture will be held at the premises of Zelena Akcija (Frankopanska 1, Zagreb) at 20:00 hours.
REACH regulates the use of new chemicals in EU
The lecturer Zdravko Lovrić from Croatian Toxicology Institute will talk about the REACH regulation (adopted in 2007), which aims to improve the control and testing of effects that new chemicals released in the market – majority of which ends in the environment or in consumer products – have on human health.
Under the auspices of the project that focuses on the impact that EU accession (in particular the synchronisation of Croatian with EU legislation) has on those aspects of environment directly related to human health, three more lectures are planned for January 2012: on EU legislation on GMOs (January 16); on the effects that EU accession will have on national GMO Policies (January 17); and on European pesticides regulation (January 19). In addition, the topic of GMOs will be discussed in a separate round-table discussion with Croatian and foreign experts.
The “Health and Environmental Impact of Croatian Accession to EU” Project is implemented with support by the European Union, through its IPA INFO 2009 programme. (Source: Zelena akcija)
