On the occasion of 30th Anniversary of the Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) owpsee commissioned seven articles from researchers, activists and women rights organisations from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia, as their contribution to the spreading of CEDAW.

Since the fall of communism, itself staunchly secular, if not outright atheist ideology, we have witnessed a religious revival in the countries of Southeast Europe, with organized religions adopting a more muscular approach in the effort for renewed influence on social and political life.
