The Žene ženama (Women to Women) group from Sarajevo invites all interested individuals to applz for the Women Studies in Local Communities programme.

A three-day training course for CSOs on the topic ‘Project Proposal Writing for EU Funds’ is being held in Subotica, June 22-24, by the TACSO Serbia office.

The Session of the Zagreb University Senate was interrupted by about 80 students who entered the conference room and read the declaration demanding publicly funded education in all levels. Chancellor Aleksa Bjeliš demanded, with little success, from the students to leave the premises and then stopped the session and postponed it for another date, to be determined later.

The Centres for Civil Initiatives (CCI) gathered the support of several thousand of citizens of Sarajevo who signed the petition for the initiative to allow parents and members of faculty of elementary school to directly elect their head-masters.

The first conference of the Association of Young Roma of Serbia (UMRS) concluded that the work with young Roma will be a priority for the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights to ensure that they would become active contributing members of the society and join the work of the national council and political parties.

The Gender Centre – Centre for Equality of Sexes of the Government of RS will organize the training “Development and Sustainability of Gender Equality Instruments on Local Level” during its visit to Trebinje Municipality on Thursday, May 27, 2010 (the Hall of the Trebinje Town Hall). The training will focus on implementation of normative standards for equality of sexes on local level and raising public awareness on the needs and benefits of applied equality principles.

Yesterday, May 20, the students of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje gathered in protests led by Sloboden Index student association, demanding, among other things, free/state subsidized higher education, as well as a new way for student organizing consisting of a student parliament based on direct democracy.
