Josipović pledges to stop ostracism of returnees

Ivo JosipovicCroatian President Ivo Josipović paid a visit to Serb returnees and Croats that were settled in the region of Zadar, to hear the returnees' complaints about slow and expensive bureaucracy. They also complained that local authorities don't see them as part of the local community.

Branka Mraović Won the NSHC Refugee Award

On the occasion of June 20, the World Refugee Day, the Novi Sad Humanitarian Centre (NSHC) presented the annual award for prominent refugees and IDPS to artist Branka Mraović, refugee from Vrginmost, Croatia, now living in Dobanovci, near Belgrade. Mraović got the award for her courage in overcoming difficulties and challenges of a life as a refugee.

Chachipe Demands Stop of Forced Evictions

GONG donated 213 books to the school libraries in Gracac and Donji Srb

Zagreb, January 22 -- During the traditional Christmas Breakfast, and under the auspices of the “Sustainable Refugee and Deportee Return” Project, the non-governmental organization GONG implemented a campaign to collect books for the school libraries in Gracac and Donji Srb. Many donors from the fields of politics, media and civil society joined the campaign with their donations.

The Macedonian government, its Western counterparts, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) should redouble efforts to ensure them dignified living conditions.
